The name
Why “Engine Hook”
In software, a hook is the point where one system plugs into another. Your business already runs on an engine of people, processes and systems: email, documents, a CRM, an ERP, spreadsheets.
Engine Hook is the connection point. We attach AI to that engine at the places where it does useful work, and we design the checks, approvals and handover that let your team rely on it.

Founder. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, working with teams remotely.
Ian’s work sits where business systems, data and people meet. He has scoped and sold ERP implementations, analysed business data, and taught hundreds of people new skills. Engine Hook brings those together: implement the system properly, then make sure the team adopts it.
Background
- Former Business Advisor at Odoo SA, scoping and selling business-system implementations for SMEs across Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and the wider African region
- Certified Odoo 18 and 19 Functional consultant
- Earlier roles as Senior Business Analyst and Data Analyst, and as a Microsoft Dynamics NAV consultant
- Business Information Technology (JKUAT) and Data Science (ExploreAI Academy)
- Has trained more than 450 professionals, pro bono, as lead organiser of the ALX Africa public speaking masterclass
